Signature on beige lined piece of paper by Anson P. Morrill in black ink. Datelined April 7, 1881 in Augusta, Maine. Paper measures 5" x 5 1/2." Paper reads: "Very truly yours, Anson P. Morrill, Ex Gov. of Maine, Augusta, ME, Apr. 7, '81." Paper and signature are very clean and intact. Anson P. Morrill (1803-1887) was an American politician. He served as the 24th Governor of Maine from 1858-1861. He also served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1861-1863 and the Maine House of Representatives. From 1864-1866 and 1873-1875, Morrill was the president of the Maine Central Railroad.
