Signature on beige card by George W. McCrary in black ink. 4 1/2" x 3 1/2." Card reads: "Geo. W. McCrary, Secretary of War, 1878." Card and signature are clean and intact. George W. McCrary (1835-1890) was a Republican politician who served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1857-1860 and in the Iowa Senate from 1861-1865. McCrary was also a federal circuit judge and served as Secretary of War in the Cabinet of President Rutherford B. Hayes (1822-1893).
