This Presbyterian powerhouse was famed for his pastorate at the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC, where his parishioners included Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Lincoln -- the latter of whom gifted in Sizoo's honor the pulpit still in use today; co-authored "Across the Line 1945" with Albert Payson Terhune. Large, bold "With Presbyterian Greetings / New York Ave Presbyterian Church / Washington D.C. / Joseph R. Sizoo" in blue fountain pen on a pale yellow 5¼" X 4½" slip, dated at bottom edge July 1929 in another hand. Near fine. At lower left a small newsprint portrait of Sizoo has been affixed (not affecting text). Handsome and unusual. This was signed at a Chautauqua meeting where Sizoo gave a lecture.
