Nineteenth president of the United States (1877-81), previously an Ohio representative (1865-67) and governor (1868-72, 1876-77); as a Union general, he was severely wounded at the Battle of South Mountain in 1862. On the blank verso of his heavy stock 3½" X 2" printed calling card, Hayes signs boldly in brown ink, penning "Fremont, O. / Nov 12 1887" below. Fine. Mounting traces on verso. Accompanied by a superb heavy stock 7" X 10" steel-engraved head-and-shoulders portrait of Hayes with facsimile signature beneath. Undated, but late 19th century. Seller Inventory # 51346

Accompanied by a near fine 4" X 5½" black-and-white head-and-shoulders portrait of a smiling Cormack in suit and tie, printed caption below citing him as manager of Partick Thistle Football Club -- having just left that team as player, he then managed the team from 1980 to 1984. Four small scotch tape stains at edges, slightly touching upon four letters. Accompanied by a very good unsigned 8" X 10" glossy photograph, an informal closeupt of a smiling young Percy in suit and tie. (Signature at upper right is Autopen.) A nice example of a signature that's surprisingly uncommon, for Percy's office used the Autopen extensively -- this early example, though, signed soon after taking office and before Autopen use took over much of his routine signing and correspondence!
