American screen composer whose Oscar-winning work includes "American in Paris," "Easter Parade" and "West Side Story"; in 1972 he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Signed Commemorative Cover, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Vienna, Virginia on 30 August 1971 and with special postal cancellation ("Filene Center - 1971 / Wolf Trap Farm Park / for Performing Arts"). Single 8-cent U.S. flag stamp at upper right. Fine. Green fills the left side of this envelope with his bold, handsome inscription and signature in black fineline: "To / Paul Johnston / with / good wishes -- / John Green." Original transmittal envelope present. Green directed and conducted the Wolf Trap Company orchestra for a time, making this choice pairing relevant. Seller Inventory # 24314
