In 1965 this Works Progress Administration artist, later a commercial and technical artist, gained fame when a watercolor she had painted in 1939 depicting an Angel Gabriel weathervane atop a church steeple in Newburyport was chosen as the country's Christmas stamp. Signed First Day Cover, 6½" X 3½", Silver Bell, Arizona, 1965 November 2. Single 5-cent "Christmas" stamp at upper right. At the center, in bold blue ballpoint, the artist signs and inscribes it "Inscribed to Paul Johnston with / best wishes, / Lucille Gloria Chabot." Accompanied by a brief ANS, heavy stock 6" X 3½" card, n.p., 1974 August 19. Addressed to Paul Johnston. Fine. Gracious note to an admirer.
