No artist designed more U.S. postage stamps than this New Yorker, with 40 stamps to his credit and more done for a few other countries and the U.N.; he was the artist chosen by NASA to render the Apollo 11 astronauts and the resulting 1969 10-cent "First Man on the Moon" stamp is his most famous. Signed FDC, white 6½" X 3½" envelope, with two-part Gemini 4 stamps at upper right and postally cancelled at Kennedy Space Center, Florida on 29 September 1967 with "First Day of Issue" so noted. Fine. Never addressed. Calle signs large and bold in blue ballpoint at lower left. A choice example.
