The noted physicist and mathematician collaborated with Albert Einstein on the classic "Gravitational Equations and the Problem of Motion" while at Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study, then in 1972 co-authored the biography "Albert Einstein: Creator and Rebel" with Einstein's secretary Helen Dukas; from 1937 through the late 1970s he taught at Queens College. Signed First Day Cover, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Princeton, New Jersey on 4 March 1979 and with "First Day of Issue" boldly stamped. Single 15-cent "Einstein" stamp at upper right. Along the left side, vertically, Hoffmann signs boldly in black ballpoint. With small portion of original transmittal envelope.
