The wife of famed stamp artist Ward Brackett was likewise a noted painter who designed eight USPS Christmas stamps. Signed First Day Cover, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Washington, DC on November 7, 1973 and with "First Day of Issue" boldly stamped. Single 8-cent "Christmas" stamp at upper right. Fine. At lower left, in bold blue ballpoint, Tingle signs boldly. This particular stamp depicts a needlepoint decorated Christmas tree and was one of the Post Office's most popular stamps. With original transmittal envelope, signed by Tingle at upper left with return address in her hand; at lower left, she also notes: "thank you for nice note. d.t.".
