About this Item
Signed and inscribed copy of Charles Tebbetts?s scarce and highly sought-after hypnotherapy manual. Second Edition, Fourth Printing. Hypnotism Training Institute of Washington, Edmonds, Washington, 1989; copyright 1985. Illustrated by Joyce Tebbetts. Octavo hardcover, approximately 8.5 x 5.5 inches; 456 pages followed by two pages of advertisements. ISBN 0-930298-28-4.
Inscribed in ink across the author?s portrait page:
?To Margaret / from Charles Tebbetts.?
A scarce signed working copy of Tebbetts?s extensive treatment of short-term hypnotherapy, including induction methods, regression work, therapeutic dialogue, case transcripts, and techniques associated with parts therapy.
Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to the front board and spine. Condition is Good only. The exterior shows substantial shelf and handling wear, including generalized rubbing and scuffing, areas of discoloration and fading, noticeable loss of blue surface color, worn edges and corners, and wear at the spine extremities. The gilt lettering is dulled but remains readable. Page edges are age-toned.
The text contains scattered highlighting, underlining, brackets, pen marks, and handwritten marginal annotations throughout. The markings are noticeable and occur in multiple sections, but they are not present on every page and do not prevent the book from being read or used. Binding remains intact and serviceable, with no detached pages observed.
Several pieces of vintage personal ephemera were found laid in and used as bookmarks and are included as found. These include Kenya air-mail correspondence addressed to Margaret Quinn, providing continuity with the ?Margaret? named in the author?s inscription. The ephemera is retained as part of the copy?s ownership and use history; it is not represented as correspondence from Charles Tebbetts.
An honest, well-used practitioner?s or student?s copy rather than a fine-condition collectible, but significantly enhanced by Tebbetts?s signed presentation inscription and the scarcity of the original hardcover edition.
No dust jacket present. Photographs are of the actual book offered and form an important part of the condition description.
