Song of the Beauforts : No 100 Squadron RAAF and Beaufort Bomber Operations

"Sales/posting to the USA suspended". Card covers with flaps, 456pp, b&w photos, maps. Very light wear to card edges, presentation stcker signed by the DCAF 2013; a near fine copy. Records the exploits of the airmen of the first Australian Beaufort squadron in action in World War II. Developed as a torpedo and general reconnaissance bomber, the Beaufort was the heaviest, most powerful and most complex aircraft ever built in Australia. It entered service with the RAAF when Japanese aircraft seemed imminent and performed stirling service. As the tide of the war in the South-West Pacific turned from one mostly fought over the ocean to a land-based operation, the original squadron was joined by additional Beaufort units of form the RAAF's 71 Wing. Draws on participants' own words and includes personnel profiles (mini biogs), nominal roll and memorials.
