From a recent auction of modern firsts--with the auction tag still tipped into the book- a stunning copy in fine condition in a near fine slipcase. This copy is #78 of only 1,500 produced for the Limited Editions Club--first established in 1929 and famous for detail and elegance in bookbinding and decoration. Signed by the illustrator on a special limitations page at the verso. Handsome yellow-gold cloth with a deep yellow gold matching top stain-- blind stamped design tooled into front panel with Oliver Goldsmith's initials (see photo). Introduction by Louis Kronenberger. A beautifully produced publication with all of the well known attributes of the LEC. Like new condition, the black slipcase has just the lightest of edgewear at one tip or would also be fine.
