9 1/2 x 7 1/4", 108pp., 10 full page gray-toned illustrations by Virginia Keep, & others in text & as chapter headings. 1/3 maroon cloth with title in gray on spine & front cover (most of the gray ink has flaked off). Color litho. covers with front & back views of the elaborately dressed doll on the front & back covers respectively in a floral border design with sunflowers, doll's heads, etc. Wear & rubbing to corners & edges, Christmas 1907 ink inscription on fep: Mr. & Mrs. Lehmayer New York to Irma Loeb. Back inner hinge partly cracked, front hinge has loosened, some finger marks to text, etc. Overall VG copy of a book on thick paper, whose binding can easily split. How Alice's doll is taken by a dog, she becomes ill & Dr. McDowell helps her back to health with a new doll. Charming story & period illustrations. The third doll title in Gates' series.
