Designed and produced as the 83rd publication of Arion Press, this limited letterpress edition brings together the 31 poems of the Structure of Rime sequence that appeared during Duncan?s lifetime, along with poems first published only posthumously and several appearing here for the first time. An introductory essay by poet Michael Palmer ? a longtime friend and interpreter of Duncan?s work ? guides readers into the rich terrain of the sequence.
Printed in Perpetua type on German mouldmade Zerkall Book Laid paper and bound with exquisite attention to craft, the book measures roughly 11½ × 7¾ inches and runs to about 96 pages. The text is complemented by abstract etchings with aquatint by California painter Frank Lobdell, inset into windows on the front and back covers, with additional prints housed in a folder accompanying each copy ? a rare tactile and visual experience that echoes the depth and complexity of Duncan?s work.
The edition is limited to 275 numbered copies for sale and 26 lettered copies for complimentary distribution, each signed by the artist and presented in a cloth-covered slipcase. Seller Inventory # N - 2026 - 20
