1954. First Published. 240 pages. Signed by the author. Illustrated dust jacket over green cloth covered boards with gilt. Flat signed by author to title page. Ex Libris plate of Sir Ronald Hibbert Cross to front paste down. Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Cloth has minor damp and dust stains. Book has a slight forward lean. Resting from the exertion of climbing the hill this - probably hungry - triumvirate were amusing themselves by inventing imagin- ary savouries. "On a slice of Bath Chap", declaimed the orotund Pirie- Gordon, "trimmed to fit a disc of fried bread of the size of half a crown, lay a mushroom baked in milk as a base for a piece of cold grouse as large as a thumbnail and a quarter of an inch thick."
