He has a Masters Degree in Mathematics from the University of Washington, and has worked as a mathematician, software engineer, and manager in space programs in Seattle and in Southern California. He has been a successful entrepreneur in Europe and in Seattle. Throughout his life he has been an avid poker player, with particular interest in Texas Hold em, which he has played almost exclusively for the last fifteen years in cardrooms, casinos, and online. His deep understanding of the subtleties of Hold em derives from his systematic approach to playing the game, which would not have been possible without of his extensive investigations of the mathematics of the game.
