About this Item

A play in Three Acts #229 of signed copies American author of action-packed historical novels, usually written from the viewpoint of the oppressed. During World War II he worked with the United States Office of War Information, writing for Voice of America. He was also a member of the Communist Party from 1943-56, receiving a three-months prison sentence for contempt of Congress in 1947. While incarcerated, he began writing his most famous novel, "Spartacus.".
