This typescript of the last novel he completed bears a presentation from his daughter Heather Norway. "Keith Stewart s vicissitudes point to the common link between all of Shute s other little men Mr. Honey, Tom Cutter, Jack Turner, the Pied Piper, the Scot pilot and slaves in An Old Captivity for all of these characters undertake successful journeys that are made near epic chiefly by the limitations of time or character" (Smith).
