1 page, 10.25 x 8.25 inches, St. James Square, London, November 9, 1927. Written to Mrs. Harcourt Williams, wife of the beloved stage actor and director, declining an invitation, in full: "It is so kind of all of you to want me to come on December 15th, but, alas, I am afraid I cannot possibly manage it; I only wish I could. Natural folds and a small crease, but still in very good condition. Accompanied by a 6 x 4-inch (plus borders) black-and-white image of Astor, taken from a book, perfect for framing. American-born English socialite best remembered for becoming the first woman to sit as a member of Parliament in the House of Commons. Her feud with Prime Minister Winston Churchill is still considered legendary.…
