The queen of American stripteasers brought a new finesse to the burlesque scene, starring in the 1936 "Ziegfield Follies" and on Broadway in the 1942 musical "Star and Garter"; in addition to her 1957 memoir "Gypsy" (which was turned into a hit musical starring Ethel Merman and a film in 1962 starring Natalie Wood), she authored the mysteries "The G-String Murders" (1941) and "Mother Finds a Body" (1942). TNS, 1p, heavy stock 5½" X 3¼" picture postcard, n.p. [Los Angeles, CA], n.y. [postal cancellation 1967 December 14]. Addressed to Norman Ziel. Near fine. Thanks a fan for writing: "So glad you enjoy the show and hope you will continue to do so." Bold full signature. Glossy picture side shows a closeup head and shoulder portrait of a smiling Lee peering out coyly from behind a door; printed caption on message portion states "Gypsy Rose Lee / weekdays 4:30 p.m.," referring to a television talk show she hosted. Rather uncommon.
