Simon & Schuster's senior editor for thirty years was responsible for a large and wide array of titles, from the early works of Rachel Carson and Mary McCarthy to Albert Einstein's "Evolution of Physics," from Josephine Johnson's Pulitzer Prize-winning "Now in November" to Langston Hughes' "Stories." TNS, 1p, 5½" X 8½", New York, NY, 1936 December 29. Addressed to Philip Stevenson. Very good. Mild age toning. On Simon and Schuster letterhead, Leiper tells novelist Stevenson (1896-1965, Oscar-nominated for his "Story of G.I. Joe" screenplay): "Can you show us a couple of chapters as well as a synopsis?" And she chides him, "I may as well say quite frankly now that it is difficult to judge a novel by so little material as that." With original envelope.
