Herbert Hoover's secretary of the interior (1929-32) went on to serve as dean and chancellor of Stanford University's School of Medicine. TNS, 1p, 7" X 10½", Washington, DC, 1931 September 28. Addressed to George P. Hambrecht, noted Lincoln scholar (founder of the Lincoln Fellowship of Wisconsin) and director of the Wisconsin State Board of Vocational Education. Near fine. "Thank you for your thoughtful kindness in sending me your appreciation of Abraham Lincoln. I am going to read it at my earliest opportunity." With original envelope. Comes with a fine 8" X 6" glossy news agency photograph of 1928 showing Republican presidential candidate Hoover with Wilbur and other trustees of Stanford University.
