Original legal bank receipt, printed on green bonded paper. 8-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches. George Bernard Shaw won the 1925 Nobel Prize in Literature Headed (in type): "King Features Syndicate, Inc./ International New Service.", with typed information: "7/31/36. 7/26 Planes and Gas Seen as Peacemakers, 1,000.00." Beneath this information, George Bernard Shaw has added the following information (typed in red): "Received the sum of one thousand dollars for my license to publish the above article in the Hearst Newspapers in the United States once." Beneath this statement, granting the rights of the single publication of Shaw's article "Planes and Gas Seen as Peacemakers" in the Hearst Newspapers, is affixed a British revenue postage stamp, over which is inscribed, in ink holograph, by George Bernard Shaw: "$1000/ G.
