8 ½ in. x 11 in. sheet showing two small closed tears along with margin and some ruffling at upper right corner. Evidence of previous folding exists. The letter reads: "77 Rhode Island Avenue Newport, Rhode Island April 9, 1925---My dear Mr. Williams: I thank you very much for your flattering invitation to be the guest of the Brockton Rotarians at the luncheon on April 21st, and I should like very much to accept, but cannot do so because I have to be in Saginaw, Michigan on that day to speak before an association of clubs that are interested in aviation. With best wishes for a successful conference, believe me Very sincerely yours, Wm. S Sims." Then follows the name and full address of the person Sims was writing to. "Mr. Harry H. Williams Brockton Mass." William Sowden Sims (1858 1936) was an admiral in the United States Navy who advocated the modernization of the Navy.
