Single leaf. A typescript letter by the London Daily Herald's features editor, Horace White, asking if Shaw would write an article of around 2,000 words marking the twentieth anniversary of the Russian Revolution for the paper's November 7th issue. Shaw's response was not only speedy written just two days later but also characteristically acerbic, commencing with his decline of the request because he was "too busy," then going on to remark, "Besides the Russians should not be encouraged in the childishness of thinking that the 20th anniversary of that revolution is a bit more interesting than the 19th or 21st" Typescript letter, signed in black ink, on Daily Herald letterhead, featuring annotated autograph note, signed and dated in red ink, folded into quarters for mailing.
