About this Item
Edge wear and chipping to jacket, signed 'Christopher Shaw With my very best wishes Dennis Holman', signed books by this author are uncommon. In the 1930s a young English anthropologist, Pat Noone, did valuable pioneer work among the Temiar, a light skinned aborigine tribe in the deep jungle (ulu) of the northern Malaya. So strong was his attraction to the Temiar and their harmonious way of life that he married Anjang, a beautiful aborigine girl. When the Jananese invaded Malaya they retreated back into the jungle and that was the last that was ever heard of him. In 1953 Richard Noone, Pat's brother, discovered the truth about Pat: a tragic story of violence and passion, in which Pat and Anjang were the unhappy protagonists. Seller Inventory # 002811
