Under the Crust.

Terry Lamsley is a local author who knows Buxton well. He feels that the town, though eminently hauntable, has never had the ghosts it deserves, so he provided some of his own invention. Here are six supernatural tales of dark fantasy and terror set in and around present-day Buxton. The characters include: A visitor to the town who finds himself confronted by creatures from Buxton's pagan past. A teenage glue-sniffer pursued by the figure of a tramp that only he can see. An elderly man alone on a station on the Buxton to Manchester line who feels he is being observed by someone or something at the far end of the platform. A woman who recalls the increasingly strange and desperate destiny of a family she was employed by in the 1950's. A failed business man who discovers somewhere very much like he'll just off the A6 near Dove Holes. A deceased spinster who falls for an undead ghoul and meets a fate worse than death. The tales combine the understated approach of the traditional ghost story with a modern style and some black humour. They point to an unfamiliar aspect of Buxton: the dark side of town that tourists don't see, where twilight and shadows gather 'Under the Crust' of normality. From back of book
