My parents were sharecroppers. We came west in 1946. I graduated from High School in 1950. I held my head up high after tragedy struck. I excelled in music and sports, playing my violin at business school. I worked as a volunteer at the local hospital with the children, earning my certificate, and hat and pin. I was a nurse's aid from 1981 until I retired in 1989. I have done volunteer counseling for 700 Club and learned how to save my own marriage. I taught Sunday school for many years.
