An unique copy of this edition of the Quaker poet's verse. Barton lived from 1784 to 1849, in Woodbridge Suffolk. The three volumes included in matching parchment binding are: Poems Third edition with additions 1822; Minor Poems, including Napoleon 1824, published by Thomas Boys; and Poetic Vigils 1824. In the first volume is an inscription by Barton to John Major, who was the publisher of Izaac Walton's Complete Angler. There is also an 8 line poem by Barton written to Major on the same page, and the whole is signed 31st August 1825, Woodbridge Suffolk. Each volume has an armorial bookplate on the front pastedown of John Field.
