Calcutta. Jadavpur University. 1968. Hard Cover. Demy 8vo 8¾" x 5½" [22.2cm x 13.9cm]. 140 pp and detailed notes and references to the rear. Copper coloured cloth boards without titles. Boards are clean and corners and spine ends are sharp showing no obvious wear. Endpapers are a little spotted but very faint. Inscribed on the flyleaf to Mr and Mrs Mackenzie Smith from Naresh, Calcutta, February 1969. Black and white photograph of Purohit Swami in the text who had a close association with Yeats throughout his life and collaborated on many projects after their meeting in 1931. Olive green wrappers with black and yellow titles. A little fragile with some loss at the spine head and a little rubbing down one of the spine junctions. A couple of small closed tears which are not really noticeable. Jacket and book very good overall. Jacket is unclipped and shows Rs 15.00, $ 4.00 and 25 Shilling. A very uncommon but important work especially in signed state. Explores the influence of Indian thought on the poetry of William Butler Yeats. Guha's book examines Yeats's interest in Sanskrit, Hindu texts, and his play 'The Herne's Egg'. It also considers how Yeats's early poetry incorporated Indian ideas and themes.
