Offered here is a wonderful survival, Pickford Waller's FIRST DRAWING, as per his personal remarks, dated Feb, 1891. Waller, noted English designer, rare book collector, and prominent Arts & Crafts enthusiast, writes: "Feb: 1891, Drawing found in my Mother's Pocket-book & must have been there since I was a child - probably more than 30 years. Doubtless, my first drawing!" Written in pencil on back of light weight paper (which the drawing (6 x 2 inches). The drawing (also in pencil) is on laid paper (3 x 2 inches) and depicts, with great skill, the back of a traveler with his rucksack strapped over one shoulder, peering into a field, with trees in the background. Signed with Waller's characteristic "P. W" signature, lower left. Re provenance, the drawing comes with a larger collection of Pickford Waller. Scarce.
