Vellum wrapped boards with a gilt lettered front cover. Signed in pencil by Brangwyn and green pen by Chesterton. Very minor spotting to boards but internally clean. Two small owners stickers and a small discrete sticker covering a price. Full suite of 14 plates. Very Good.

A very scarce dual signed limited edition of this interpretation of the Stations of the Cross, signed by important Welsh artist, Frank Brangwyn, during a depressing period of his life after two commissions he had completed for the House of Lords had been rejected, the first for being to grim, and the second for being too lively. The plates contained within are dark and powerful. The introduction, written by the author of Father Brown, is an analysis both of the art, and of the theology of Christ at the Cross. Incredibly scarce in this form.
