Ken Lanci is on a journey of faith – a mission to achieve the greatest good for the greatest number of people. That’s because in 2007, Ken died. And that’s where this story begins. During the lengthy recovery period that followed Ken’s massive heart attack, he started a life-changing process that continues to this day. Ken gained a new purpose in life through a second chance to achieve some higher purpose. And he discovered it when he decided to work for the greater good of all. Today, Ken’s life is no longer just about being a successful businessman, loving husband, father and grandfather. It’s about leveraging his time, talent, and resources to improve the community. His 2010 political run to become Cuyahoga County’s first county executive was aimed at achieving a position where he could fix regional problems with no strings attached. And his 2013 run for Mayor of the City of Cleveland has been no different. The story starts on that fateful day in 2007 when Ken died of a heart attack. And through flashbacks to his early life, discussions with family and friends, and a moving journey through his business life and political campaign, Ken relates what it was like growing up in inner city Cleveland and barely getting by. He explains how over the years, he turned his perseverance into business acumen and became successful. And he discusses what it was like to come back to life.
