Bookplate of John Perrott Noel (1765-1806), Major of the Worcestershire Regiment of Militia of Bell Hall. An anonymous work (the Preface is signed 'J.'), first published as 'A general and complete dictionary of the English language' in 1785. This is the last of the 18th century editions. There were at least three 19th century editions, the last being in 1818. The grammar was separately published in 1794. Alston V, 334.
