a sky with two moons is Suzanne Simons' collection of astronomy poems based on actual astronomical events and phenomena from the post-Apollo moon missions of the early 1970s to the present. During this period, scientific discoveries and understanding shifted from peopled space flight to deeper and more nuanced questions and understanding of the universe, its origins, evolution and our place in it. Through metaphor, imagery and imagination, Simons draws on the tradition of science poetry to illuminate the beauty of the heavens and critical issues of our times. About the Author

Suzanne sparked the city of Olympia, Washington to establish a poet laureate program. Her first full-length poetry collection was Road to Winnemucca. Her poems have been anthologized in I Sing the Salmon Home (Empty Bowl Press), winner of the 2024 Washington State Book Award for Best Poetry; Mud Flat Verse; Garden of the Covid Museum; and Dancing at the Edges. Suzanne's poems have also been published in Western Friend, Cirque, Aethlon: The Journal of Sports Literature, Issued: Stories of Service, and appeared at Olympia, Washington Arts Walk, the Josephy Cultural Center of Joseph, Oregon, and in stone at a local skateboard park. Her poem "Instructions for Erasure" on the internment of Americans of Japanese ancestry received an honorable mention in the Lader Poetry of Witness award from the North Carolina Poetry Society.
