Pushto (a.k.a., Pashto) is the language of the Pathans of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The first N.T. in that language appeared in 1818. This edition was freshly translated by Isidore Lowenthal, a "Christian Jew" of the American Presbyterian Mission, assisted by Robert Clark of the Church Mission Soceity and H. James the Commissioner of the Panjab. The text is in Arabic characters. Provenance: The Howell Bible Collection, Pacific School of Religion (properly released). 8vo. ii, 779 pp. North & Nida, Book of a Thousand Tongues (1972), 1039; Darlow & Moule 7305.
