El autor es Mr. Laporte o La Porte, y las iniciales del traductor D. P. E. P. corresponden a Don Pedro Estala, Presbítero. Al principio el traductor español siguió a José de Laporte, pero a partir del tomo VII, considerando inseguro el texto francés, decidió continuar su obra según la relación de viajeros modernos dignos de crédito (Palau).
