Kalbleder der Zeit mit Rückenschildern und goldgeprägtem Supralibros auf allen Deckeln (contemporary calf). Erste Gesamtausgabe. - Soame Jenyns (1704-1787) saß fast 40 Jahre im britischen Parlament und machte sich daneben einen Namen als Essayist und "noted wit and conversationist" (Allibone). Bekannt geblieben ist er durch die vernichtende Kritik Samuel Johnson's an seiner "Free inquiry into the nature and origin of evil". - Vor allem anfangs und am Ende teils stockfleckig und angestaubt, ganz vereinzelte Anstreichungen und Marginalien mit Bleistift (nicht störend, aber auch radierbar). Die Einbände etwas berieben, die Gelenke teils rissig, aber stabil, die Rücken leicht nachgedunkelt, ein kleines Rückenschildchen mit der Bandbezeichnung abgeblättert, ein weiteres Rückenschild mit Eckabsplitterung. Gutes Exemplar. - Alle Bände mit dem Supralibros der schottischen "Signet Library" auf den Deckeln, die vorderen Innendeckel mit entsprechendem Signaturetikett, Titel von Band I auch mit handschriftlichem Besitzvermerk. - Some foxing or slight soiling, very few pencil annotations.
