Terry Overton began her career as a teacher of students with special needs. She completed her master's degree at Texas Woman's University and became an educational diagnostician. She completed her doctorate at Texas Woman's University in special education and her postdoctoral training in school psychology at the University of Virginia. Overton currently teaches at the University of Texas-Pan American near the Mexican border, where she serves as the program coordinator of the graduate program in school psychology.
