Samuel T. Gladding is a Professor of Counseling and chair of the Department of Counseling at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Gladding is also the former editor of Journal for Specialists in Group Work and the author of over 100 professional publications. He has been a practicing counsellor in both public and private agencies since 1971. His leadership in the field of counselling includes service as president of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), the Association for Specialists in Group Work (AGW), and Chi Sigma Iota (counseling academic and professional honor society international). Gladding is also the former editor of Journal for Specialists in Group Work and the author of over 100 professional publications. He is a national Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCHC), and a practicing Licensed Professional Counselor (North Carolina). Gladding is a Fellow in the American Counseling Association and a recipient of the Gilbert and Kathleen Wrenn for a Humanitarian and Caring Person.
Kevin G. Alderson is an Associate Professor of Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary. Dr. Alderson has been a counsellor for more than 30 years and a licensed practicing psychologist for 25. His experiences have included working as a child and youth care worker, a caseworker, a mental health worker, and a psychologist in diverse settings. Before joining the university in July 2001, Dr. Alderson was Head of Counselling and Health Services at Mount Royal College (now a university) in Calgary for several years. Alderson is the current Editor of the Canadian Journal of Counselling and Psychotherapy and the author of five previous books.
