This anthology contains selections from the work of twenty-five years of Soviet writers, from the end of the Second World War up to 1970. This anthology -for obvious reasons of space- concentrates on the shorter genres: lyric poetry and the short storyFamiliar names are represented, including Pasternak, Yevtushenko, Sinyavsky and Solzhenitsyn, together with new writers whose work was hitherto little known or unavailable in English.
