Reginald Perrin is fed up with his boss and sick of selling ices. Driven to desperation, Reggie begins his battle against consumerism, driving off in a motorized jelly, and creating the world's biggest loganberry stick on the way. He dumps his clothes on a Dorset beach, and starts a new life.

Original Wraps. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket, as Issued. First UK Paperback Edition. First impression of the first paperback edition. The first book in the Reginald Perrin comic novel trilogy. The book was first published in hardback by Victor Gollancz in 1975, under the title of "The Death of Reginald Perrin". Perhaps the Penguin editors thought the book needed a more upbeat title, as per the TV series. Cover photograph showing Leonard Rossiter in the role in the TV series. ***Very good in colour illustrated thin card covers, with the original printed price of 75p on the back cover. The covers have some light edge wear and rubbing commensurate with age and handling, but no significant creases or tears. There are some light creases and marks to the front cover (please see scans). Edges of page block are clean. Spine clean and not browned, and with no reading creases. Internally also very good with no inscriptions or annotations. Paper stock lightly tanned but pages clean. Spine tight. Covers bright. ***182mm x 112mm. 287 pages. ***'When Dutch parking-meter disease is prevalent in London --- when "earwig" is as good a word as any other --- when you have an uncontrollable urge to say "parsnips" --- then everything is normal, yet nothing is normal, in the world of Reginald Iolanthe Perrin. And you can hardly blame him when he gets into a mobilized jelly mould and rumbles off into the night to start a new life. Comic novels are rare. Serious comic novels are rarer. In Reggie Perrin, David Nobbs has created a new hero for our times, a hero we can recognize as one of ourselves, living in a world we know all too well.' ***"I laughed 287 times and cried twice --- I still feel I am Reggie Perrin as I walk about, what a beautiful book" --- Ronnie Barker (Quote and review quote taken from the back cover) ***First impression of the first paperback edition of the first novel in the Reggie Perrin trilogy, with a different title to the hardback edition, in very good condition. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.***.
