Synopsis
This text examines the relation between atmospheric pressure and the boiling point of water. It is one of several works by the author that present his collected experiments and observations on the subject. Building on previous experiments, the author determines that the boiling point of water changes in proportion to the weight of the atmosphere, and creates a formula to calculate the height of a location based on this relationship. This laid the groundwork for using barometric pressure to measure altitude, a method still used today.
