Synopsis
Volumes 9 and 10 (see following entry) comprise the proceedings of an international symposium on the fracture mechanics of ceramic materials held in Nagoya, Japan, July 1991. Scientists address many of the theoretical and practical issues of brittle fractures and explore recent developments in monolithic engineering ceramics and whisker and fiber reinforced ceramic composites. Topics include: fracture mechanics and mechanisms of ceramic composites, fatigue failure, microfracture mechanisms and processes of R-curve behavior, and engineering applications of structural ceramics.
