J. P. Miller (1913-2004) illustrated dozens of Golden Books beginning in the late 1940s, such as The House That Jack Built and Puss in Boots. Some titles, such as The Sweet Smell of Christmas, have never been out-of-print. Before becoming a children’s book illustrator, Miller had worked as an animator during the early years of the Walt Disney Studio. He helped create the now-iconic characters for the films “Pinocchio,” “Fantasia,” and “Dumbo.”
