Reviews

A rabbit fashioned from a napkin by Uncle George quickly becomes Milly's favorite toy, much to the annoyance of her other dolls and stuffed animals. Napkin Rabbit is ostracized, and fearful of being "unfolded" (a fate worse than death, obviously). He soon runs away, taking shelter with Milly's real pet rabbits. Literally sick with worry, Milly frets over Napkin Rabbit's fate, until finally her other toys relent and fetch him home again. This fairly insipid tale is both too wordy and predictable, but it's jazzed up by the presence of Downer's competent watercolors, as well as directions for a do-it-yourself napkin rabbit (two napkins are included). Ages 4-8.
