Fifth in the series

Cornwall 1794. The birth of a son to Elizabeth and George Warleggan serves only to accentuate the rift between the Poldark and Warleggan families. And when Morwenna Chynoweth, now governess to Elizabeth's eldest son, grows to love Drake Carne, Demelza's brother, the enduring rivalry between George and Ross finds a new focus for bitter enmity and conflict.

About the Author:
Winston Graham (1908-2003) is the author of more than 40 novels, and is best known for the highly successful Poldark series. His novels have been translated into 17 languages and six have been filmed, the most notable being Marnie directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Winston Graham was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and in 1983 was awarded the OBE.
From AudioFile:
Stephen Thorne is a marvelous reader! The Poldark series has been filmed for PBS, so you may be familiar with the story. Don't let that keep you from listening to this audiobook. Late eighteenth-century Cornwall comes to life with Thorne's excellent narration, and he's a master of dialect. The everyday occurrences, as well as the conflicts and the war with France, provide an interesting background for the interaction between the Poldark and Warleggan families. The book itself is character driven; however, Thorne gives each one an individuality the listener can relate to. Anyone whose taste runs to historical fiction is sure to enjoy listening to this novel. D.M.W. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
