Synopsis
Statistical Models in S extends the S language to fit and analyze a variety of statistical models, including analysis of variance, generalized linear models, additive models, local regression, and tree-based models. The contributions of the ten authors-most of whom work in the statistics research department at AT&T Bell Laboratories-represent results of research in both the computational and statistical aspects of modeling data.

About the Author
John Chambers has been a member of technical staff in reserach at Bell Laboratories since 1966. In 1977, he became the first statistician to be named a Bell Labs Fellow, cited for "pioneering contributions to the field of statistical computing." His research has touched on nearly all aspects of computing with data but he is best known for the design of the S language. He is the author or co-author of seven books.
