Although the book itself is not devotion, it does emphasize their devotional importance for the Jews who put them into their Bible. The book also touches upon the possible inspirations for the Psalms, like the the neighboring tribes and how the Essenes had their own collection. The Psalms are shown to embody the depths of human religious experience. Some were hymns that were meant to sung. A few talk about nature.
