This book, the result of interviews with many playwrights, performers, directors, designers, producers, and critics, presents the experience of collaborative theater as a model for new productions. Though not a how-to guide, the book provides a variety of insights into and responses to the workshop process that suggest that it will work well with diverse personalities, working methods, and production circumstances. While the structure of the book recommends sampling rather than reading straight through, the questions are well chosen and the interviewees are important.
